The Gathering Place, Bishop California Wedding | Kelsea & Romal
It’s not often that I get to photograph a wedding in Bishop, California. Bishop is where I spent the first 17 years of my life so it has a very special place in my heart and each wedding I get to shoot there is just that much more special.
I have known Kelsea since high school, and when I found out her long distance relationship with Romal was going to end in “Happily Ever After,” I was hoping she would allow me to be there to photograph it.
Kelsea and Romal’s wedding day started at Simplicity salon in Bishop. The bride and her bridesmaids were getting their hair done, putting on make-up, and having a great time. There were no shortage of smiles or outbursts of laughs.
I met Romal at the ceremony location to get a few shots of him dressed up. We got in close to see some of his details and saw these awesome cuff links that read “I’m so happy to be your wife.”
The ceremony emotions started off high. Romal was wiping away tears as Kelsea’s father hugged her before giving her away. These tears were shared and the emotions kept flowing throughout the ceremony with beautiful vows written by both the bride and the groom.
Laughter took over the wedding party and the guests with Romal’s reaction to the question, “Does anyone object to this marriage?” I think everyone agrees that “No” is the correct answer there.
This was my first time photographing a wedding at The Gathering Place in Bishop. I had fun being able to explore the property with Kelsea, Romal, and my second shooter Rikki. The sun was creeping down into the trees and the flares complimented the background scenery so well. I just love this set. I envision it on a wall somewhere soon.
Toasts are quickly becoming one of my favorite parts of the wedding. You never know what is going to get said, you’re always wondering who is going to be the first one to cry and who is going to make you laugh the most. A good toasts brings you on an emotional roller coaster and it really makes you feel like you are a part of the relationship being honored.
This beautiful Bishop Wedding ended with a sparkler send off. Yes we were in California and no we did not burn anything down. Not even my hair. Just kidding, maybe some sparks hit the hair. Totally worth it!
Thank you so much Kelsea and Romal again for allowing Rikki and me to capture your special day. I hope you and your new family will cherish the photos forever.
