Forest Chapel, Mammoth Lakes, CA Ceremony Venue
Forest Chapel, located at Tamarack Lodge and Twin Lakes, is an outdoor amphitheater with a beautiful forest backdrop. It is the perfect space for a woodsy wedding.
Forest Chapel is one of my absolute favorite venues and I would definitely put it at the top of my list for where to have a wedding ceremony in Mammoth Lakes. Forest Chapel provides a unique experience for you and your guests with its log-style seating, wooden stage and an incredible wooden pergola nestled in the trees between the Twin Lakes. And, in most seasons, the ceremony lighting is magical!
Besides the aesthetics, this venue also offers protection from the wind. When getting married in Mammoth, wind can be a big thing at certain venues, however at Forest Chapel, you won’t have much of an issue. I have also photographed weddings at this venue while it was snowing, and the trees provided adequate protection for that.
With all of this said, what I love most about this venue is the convenience. You and your family and friends can rent cabins on-site to get ready for the big day, which leaves only a short stroll to your ceremony. There is also plenty of space for the formal portraits and epic locations for couples portraits, all just a few steps away.
A few reception venues that pair well with forest chapel are Camp High Sierra or Mammoth Brewing Co as these are a short drive, but you can also head on up to Parallax or the Mill.
One thing to prepare yourself for with Forest Chapel is that it can be quite cold since it is higher in elevation and it is one of the places in Mammoth that will get the first snowfall. As I said, I have photographed weddings in the snow here as early as the first weekend of October.
